Music Education Consultant

Strategic Music Education Consultancy

Why do you need a music consultant for your school?

Independent schools have the unique advantage of being able to fund music departments well and support musical initiatives to offer their pupils something beyond the ordinary. That said, with the right support and vision, they can extend their output and shape a really valuable offering.

Polly can help your school or trust maximise the potential of your departments and keep the output fresh and engaging for all pupils. Having a specialist music consultant involved in the output of a music department gives music staff support and encouragement, whilst also helping the school to strengthen their vision and what outcomes they want to see for the pupils, be they cocurricular or academic.

Polly supports schools with curriculum options, further education advice, large-scale events and workshops, and helps to develop a department to keep in line with a school’s vision and aims.

Polly supports departments and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure that the staffing and timetabling of a music department is appropriate, whilst also supporting Directors of Music to manage large departments and understand the nuances of running a large team of both employed and self-employed staff.

Why Polly?

Polly is a unique music educator – she is a professional singer, choral director and composer, and has taught in the classroom in schools since 2009, having actively worked in them since 2000. With 9 years experience as a Director of Music (at Streatham & Clapham High School GDST and Alleyn’s School), Polly understands what is required to run a busy department and how to make that department thrive. She has worked in small and large departments and has always had a clear vision for innovation and development, with the pupils as the main focus. Polly has run workshops for schools, summer schools and staff-training and is able to offer these skills as part of her consultancy.

Polly has worked with educational trusts, helping to organise trust-wide initiatives – either lecture series, competitions, workshops or large-scale concerts. As Polly is an active music professional, she has a wide connection to groups and people in the industry and is able to bring these to the schools and trusts that she works for.
